Super Size That... It's Our Anniversary!

Robert and I have been married 4 years now. It's been an adventure that I would do over again in a minute! We both had to work and we came home exhausted. We did some yard work together and decided against dinner out... we went to Chic-fil-a and super sized the fries. What the heck... it's our anniversary!

Acutally, it was the perfect thing for us. We love spending time together and we both love working hard and enjoying the "fruits of our labors". As we were planting corn, we laughed at how compatible we are and how much we enjoy doing things together. I have truly found the one "whom my soul loves". (Except when I want to run over him with my truck!)

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! It was so fun to have all of Robert's kids and grandkids here to celebrate Father's Day. We had a great time shooting hoops, playing catch and visiting. Robert's mom and George spent the evening with us as well.
Robert is a great dad to his kids and to mine... we're lucky to have him in our lives.

Hallie, Hazen and Kyler danced for us... watch out Hannah Montana!

Craig, Robert and Kendall all played a killer game of catch...

... the boys gave Grandpa lots of hugs and kisses!

... they also checked their gardens and gave their plants lots of drinks! We also caught some bugs in our bug jars and played kick ball! What a fun day with all the family!

By the way, Dad, I miss you...

Here Comes the Rain!

We have had the most horrific rain storms the last week or so. We've had a couple of days where it hailed so much it looked like snow on the roof. Well, our drain outside the back door just couldn't keep up, so in the rain came... all over the family room floor.

Robert was out of town when I discovered how wet it was down there, so I ripped the carpet up and the pad, and threw the pad away. The fans were blowing a lovely odor that Jessi said "smells like worms". Yummmmm. (They don't sell THAT at Bath and Body!!!)

My Relief Society Lesson!

My R.S. Lesson today was on The Welfare Program and I focused on work and self-reliance. As I was preparing my lesson, a poem jumped into my brain about life at our home:

It's 6:00 am at my house, prayers and scriptures... well, they're done- hip hooray!
Robert's been up for an hour now, oils the truck, pulls some weeds, then bales hay.
The kids, well, they're smiling so sweetly, the breakfast dishes are already done;
Jessi loves sweeping crumbs from the clean kitchen floor, Kayci wipes the window to greet the morning sun.
Where's Jake? Oh, he's out in the garden- pulling weeds- his MOST FAVORITE THING;
We hold hands as we skip to grab shovels, then together, we harmoniously sing.
The garden has just a few weeds now, 'cuz we do this every day;
So soon, we're back inside of the house, we clean the clutter- a mess? There's NO WAY!
We polish every surface until it brilliantly shines, so really, you COULD eat off the floor;
We sit back to take a rest and the kids anxiously ask, "Mom, when can we do this some more?"

OK, so I read this to the kids and Jake says, "Mom, that poem is a lie."
YA THINK???? But seriously, can I just have a moment to dream?

Our Day to Volunteer at the Temple!

Jake and Riley are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to serve. These "Elders of Israel in Training" were SO EXCITED to help usher people around the temple. The enthusiasm was... well... intoxicating and really quite contagious.

Here's Robert... the Security Supervisor, making sure there were no security breeches on his shift. Nope, the cookie tent was safe with Robert around.

I was there, manning the medical post. Yep, those two ibuprofen were given STAT! No one has a headache on MY four hour shift... NO ONE.

Actually, we joke that so little happened, but I'm sure that all of the planning and coordination that has gone into this whole thing is why it's running so well.

The reception tent is beautiful and the spirit inside of the temple is wonderful. Even if it's not been dedicated yet.

Kayci and Jake are going back tonight to clean. It really is a wonderful opportunity to serve and we're so blessed to have a temple within walking distance.

Kayci's Transition Celebration!

Kayci has been attending South Valley School- a transitional school to complete her high school diploma. She was able to walk with her class even though she still has a couple of credits left. (She'll finish those online in the fall.)

Kayci and her good friend, Eric Stoker, were the speakers at the ceremony and she did such a great job. She and Eric are involved with the "People First" organization that lobbies government organizations for people with disabilities. She has spoken at different meetings and loves the people she works with.

She looked like such a beautiful young lady up there speaking and she did such a wonderful job. We are very proud of her.
