Temple Open House Security starts today!

April 25, 2009

Today was the first day of our stake assignment at the temple. Our stake is sharing today with Bluffdale stake and Robert has been up there checking things out and making sure all the walkie talkies are working and that people are showing up like they should. We had an overlap of people on the 3am shift, but things worked out well the rest of the day.

People in the area are so excited about our new temple and the response for volunteers has been wonderful. It's such a testimony builder to me to see the efforts of the people around that area. I know that we haven't had to sacrifice and struggle with physical labor and trials like the early saints had to do, but I still appreciate the willingness of the people to sacrifice their time and talents to help the temple Open House. It's been a wonderful thing.

Working at the temple has been such a great blessing for Robert and I. Our feelings for the temple have deepened and the reasons we go to the temple have been strengthened. We're anxious to go.

Another good day for our Open House. We are still doing just 24/7 security, but it all went well. There are more tents up now for visitors and refreshments, etc, so there are more areas to watch. The only glich was the walkie talkies ran out of batteries and no one knew what the combo to the lock box to get more. We found the magic code and all was well!
