Our Temple Celebration was Awesome!

May 30, 2009
Tonight was the Youth Celebration for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and both Kayci and Jake had the privelege to perform. It was AWESOME!!! After the performance, President Monson shook a few hands of the participants and HE SHOOK KAYCI'S HAND!!! She also got to shake President Eyring's hand and she giggled for an hour!

Jake got to be the Top of the Mountain guy and this is him watching President Monson at the end. The Spirit was so strong during the entire night... it was wonderful. This was the finale and some of the participants. There were over 7,000 youth... WOW!

The stage was done beautifully. It started out as a regular mountain and then then became a temple at the end. There was a dance where they had a train and one with a couple of vintage cars. The dancing was amazing and they all did a great job.

What a wonderful night with my kids. We talked all the way home about how we feel when the Spirit has touched our hearts. We talked about our testimonies and being valiant in these difficult times. These are wonderful moments in the lives of my children and as President Monson said, these are the "June roses in their December bouquets." What a blessing this gospel is to us.

These birds are pigs!

Whoever started the phrase "Eats like a bird" never had my birds in their yard. Mine eat like pigs... fill all the feeders every day!

It's wonderful to hear all the "chatter" in the morning... great stuff!

Jake's The Bomb.Com!

Our new temple, the Oquirrh Mountain temple, is almost open and the youth in our region our performing in the celebration this Saturday. The Draper temple just opened as well and this celebration is for all the youth. Jake has been practicing for the past few months with thousands of other kids in the region. He has been chosen to be the one that carries the banner to the TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN ON THE STAGE!!!

President Monson will be there and a bunch of general authorities. It's going to be broadcast to different stake centers in the area, but I don't know if it will be online or not. You can look up templecelebration.com to get some more information and there is a blog for our stake. (The links are over there on the right!) Jake is in alot of the pictures on the blog towards the end!
We'll let you know how it goes... he only gets 2 tickets to the Conference Center so Jessi and I are going. We can't wait!

Yard Work and Memorial Day... kind of synonymous, don't cha think?

This weekend we spent alot of time in the garden doing yard work and fixing things up. I planted a kitchen garden full of salsa stuff... tomatillos, peppers, tomatoes, cilantro and other herbs.
Jake hauled a whole truck load of soil prep and unloaded it ALL BY HIMSELF!!! (He really did do a great job!) Robert's beans got some company with peppers and melons...

I put some "wave" petunias in hanging pots on the playhouse... I thought they looked cute in sand buckets! I also put some geraniums in the old window box from Layton... it's low so the kids can reach it to water it!

The island in the front got a new look of dahlias, petunias, bleeding hearts along with snowmound spirea shrubs.
The front entry is pretty "welcoming"!
And here's Robert... NOT wanting his picture taken! and, of course, Mr. Poo Poo Head right in the middle of th action!

Jake and Bryan... "The Great White Hunters"!

OK, we have eight million mice that thrive around Niner's kennel. Why not? If I was a mouse, I'd live at my house...they get food and water every day and Niner just watches them run around.

Bryan, being the great neighbor and Hunter, I might add, that he is, came over and helped Jake set some traps. They caught 13 mice in about 10 minutes... as soon as they set the trap it would go off. Jake is showing off their great catch... 2 in one trap.

"Yo, Dude, I think that was Steve!"

(You had to have been there!)

So, late in the week I asked Jake to get some more mice with his friends. I called to check on their work and they had set up lawn chairs and were shooting the mice with guns. (Granted, they were BB guns) but c'mon... why do boys ALWAYS have to be boys?

A Great Day with the Grandkids!

What a fun day with Kyler and Hazen!

We planted their gardens, full of lots of flowers! They "helped" me pick where to put the flowers and then the boys watered them... REALLY, REALLY good!

Hallie got to spend some time with me after her field trip. We planted her garden and then got our toenails painted!

Here's Kyler's garden...

Here's Hazen's garden....

Karson still needs to come spend the day with us! He wants to have a sleep over in the playhouse... so it needs to be a little warmer for Grandma!

We shot hoops out of the back of Mater...

We had a picnic in the playhouse... and read books. (right after we sprayed for monsters!)

Jake and Niner kept us busy, too!
