Trek 2009!

Jake and I got to go on Trek July 8-11. I was able to go as Medical and I loved it. Jake was a great pioneer and he had a great time and loved it, too. Jake's Ma and Pa were Steve and Tara Sansom from the Harvest Park 4th ward. He was in the red, white and blue family, the Patriotic Pioneers! He had a great family... I was so grateful for that. Rocky Ridge... we camped here and had a great devotional that night. It is in the middle of South Pass so it was pretty cold, but the Spirit there was remarkable.

These are rocks of unmarked graves.

Here's Jake's family going through a muddy area that was pretty tough. Jake was always pushing or pulling, he never once was asked to pitch in and help. I was really proud of him and his great attitude.

Jake said the it "sucked" to have 2 moms on trek! Here's his "Ma", Tara, Jake and Me!

This is Jake reading his letters from home. He read his letter from Jessi first... they are super close and he really missed her.

Jake doing the stick pull...
The Hoe Down was great fun, but LOTS of mosquitos!

Jake's family... the Patriotic Pioneers!

Chris Himmer, Jake and Emily DeMie....

Jake's family was asked to reinact the portion of trek where the Pioneers wore rags on their feet because they didn't have shoes. They were really good sports about it and didn't complain at all.

Me stealing a smooch from my "Favorite Son"!

Me and Jake! I was the designated "Pioneer Drug Dealer". I handed out more Ibuprofen and Benadryl than I could ever imagine! I also just started keeping bandaids and moleskin in my apron pockets to hand out "at the ready"!
